Q: Is my dog going to forget me while staying there for training?
A: NO! a dog NEVER forgets his/her owner.
Q: Can I visit my dog while he/she is there for training?
A: Yes, but you must have an appointment and we strongly recommend you do not visit the first week of training.
Q: How will I know what to do with my dog when it is time to come home?
A: We will work together at ‘pick up time’ for about an hour to make sure you understand how to do obedience with your dog. We will make sure your dog is doing his/hers obedience for YOU. You will receive a huge packet of written information on corrections to use and how to follow through with the potty training, etc. If you cancel/ reschedule your pick-up date/ time, you are subject to boarding charges until your dog is picked up.
Q:Is my dog going to be PERFECT when they are finished with training?
A: Of course not. They will be totally trained, but just as children, they will test you after going home. They will want to immediately regress into their old behavior because that is what they will remember with you. As long as you follow through with the corrections as we do, all this will stop. You must be committed to be consistent in the follow through exercises I give you to in order to keep your dog behaving in a new manner.
Q: Will my dog be a different dog?
A: No! Your dog’s personality will still be the same; however, your dog will be more manageable and a better behaved and happier version of itself.
Q: What are your methods of training?
A: Cognitive behavioral therapy: CBT is “problem-focused” and “action-oriented” with coping strategies, exposure therapy, positive reinforcement, sound diversions, etc. We DO NOT spank! That would be counterproductive to what we are trying to achieve.
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: I have over twenty (20) years of experience and working in the dog training field. I have been in business for twenty-three (23) years.
Q: Who takes care of the dogs on days off or weekends?
A: The owner is on the premises 24/7, however; if she takes a day off, there are always employees watching over and taking care of the dogs.
Q: Will my dog have fun while in training or will it all just be work?
A: Your dog will absolutely have a blast with socialization, tons of toys and a ball pit to play in. During hot weather, we also provide a small swimming pool for the dogs to play in. They also have lots of play time with other dogs their size as well as with the trainers.
Q: Is the training I sign my dog up for guaranteed?
A: Is is guaranteed that when your dog goes home your dog will be doing all the training agreed upon. The success and long term training of your dog depends on you as the owner following through and keeping up with the training after going home.
Q: What if I do all the follow-up you suggest at home and my dog still regresses?
A: We offer a free one-time ‘tune-up’ where your dog can come back to boot camp for a week so we can line them back out to where they were when they went home the first time. As an alternative, we also offer a free follow-up training visit to your home (within a 30 mile radius) to work with you and your dog.
