Puppy Training
The first few weeks with a new puppy feel like magic. They also set the tone for the next ten to fifteen years. At Lake Cumberland K-9, we've seen what early, proper training does for a dog, and we've seen what skipping it costs. Let's get your puppy started the right way.
Description of the service
Puppies aren't born knowing the rules; they're counting on you to teach them. The problem is, most owners don't realize they're already teaching their puppy something from the moment they walk through the door. Every interaction either builds the foundation or chips away at it.
Our puppy program is built around one goal: giving your dog the clearest, most consistent start possible. We work on basic obedience, socialization, house manners, and bell training, so your puppy learns not just how to behave, but how to communicate with you. And just as importantly, we make sure you leave knowing exactly how to keep that momentum going at home.
Because, as Alisa always says, training starts here, but success ends with you.
Puppy Training
We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Here's how we work:
Every puppy is different. Before anything begins, we evaluate your dog's temperament, energy level, and where you are as an owner. This is always free because understanding the dog in front of us is the only way to train them properly.
Based on the evaluation, we build a program around your specific puppy, their breed, their drives, and their personality. A Labrador puppy and an Australian Shepherd puppy do not learn the same way, and we don't treat them like they do.
A puppy that isn't properly socialized early becomes a dog with fear, reactivity, or aggression later. We introduce your puppy to new environments, people, and other dogs in a controlled, confident way, so the world doesn't overwhelm them as they grow.
Sit, stay, come, leave it, down, heel, the foundational commands every dog needs to live a safe, structured life. We build these habits early, when they're easiest to establish and hardest to break later.
We use clear, timely corrections and rewards. Dogs learn through association; they connect an action with an outcome in the precise moment it happens. Timing is everything, and we teach you to use it correctly.
This is the piece most trainers skip. We make sure you go home understanding what your puppy learned, why it works, and what you need to do every single day to maintain it. A trained puppy with an untrained owner will regress. We make sure that doesn't happen to you.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
When your puppy completes our program, here's what you can expect:
The best time to start is now, before the habits you don't want have a chance to become permanent. Book a consultation and let's build something your puppy can carry for life.
